A $700,000 Italian sports car that originally was brought into the United States in 2001 for maintenance was seized today in Orange County as part of a federal investigation into violations of environmental and transportation safety regulations.

Agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement found the 1994 Cizeta V16 sports car at the Family Classic Cars showroom in San Juan Capistrano, eight years after an agreement specified that the car would be sent back to where it came following repairs.

The car is one of fewer than a dozen such vehicles produced by automotive engineer Claudio Zampoli in a joint venture with music composer Giorgio Moroder, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice.

The government alleges that Zampoli and his agent violated U.S. customs and environmental laws, Kice said They allegedly claimed the vehicle was worth $125,000, even though the car originally sold new for approximately $600,000.

In addition, Zampoli and his representative failed to export the vehicle within a reasonable period of time, according to the allegation.

“Make no mistake, the illegal importation of gray market vehicles like this is not just a technical violation,” said Miguel Unzueta, special agent in charge for the customs agency's Office of Investigations in Los Angeles. “Cars that don’t meet U.S. standards are outlawed for a reason. These vehicles can pose a real threat to public health and safety.”

The car was loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken to a secure government storage facility, Kice said.

The Cizeta will remain in storage while authorities seek to have it forfeited to the federal government. If the vehicle is forfeited, it will be offered for sale at a public auction. Since the vehicle does not meet U.S. environmental and safety standards, any domestic buyer would have to export the car following its purchase.

Recently the better half of Dark Dreams (Nance) and I went down to Miami to visit her parents. Nance shipped up her tape collection and somewhere in between Skinny Puppy and Nitzer Ebb was this little beauty...

Computer World has always been one of my favorite albums. But I never knew what a master piece it was until I recently took a drive around the city at night with it thumping in the Volvo, WELCOME TO THE DANGER ZONE!

We watched a documentary about the building of the Autobahn the other day and all I could think about while swerving the back streets of Downtown Brooklyn was how ill this would sound going 130 on an open highway (are you allowed to listen to music on the Autobahn?). This would also be perfect for the Downtown LA Blade Runner scene (I think a new remastered CD version is right around the corner).

If you're into Kraftwerk make sure you grab this (last months) copy of MOJO. Between the Grunge photos, Kraftwerk interview and the Yoko Ono piece Nance and I were fighting over the entire flight home.

I was thinking of what audio sample would be fitting for this post and then I remembered that sTERRYo and I had made a cover of Home Computer a few years back as The Pocket Checkers. We kind of just did it for fun and also cause we thought it was funny that TK sounds just like the dude from Kraftwerk on it. Anyway in no way does it come close to the OG version, but fuck it here it is:

BESIDES IT GAVE US AN EXCUSE TO COME TO THE CITY ON A MONDAY AND GET 10 CENT WINGS ON AVE B RIGHT BEFORE.

I LEARNED 2 THINGS THAT NIGHT

FAST FORWARD A WEEK LATER AND I'M IN SAN FRANCISCO DJING FOR PASE ROCK. THIS ALL KINDA CAME TOGETHER LAST MINUTE. HE NEEDED A DJ FOR A SHOW AND I NEEDED AN EXCUSE TO LEAVE NEW YORK. I SPENT A LITTLE MORE THEN 24 HOURS THERE BUT I HAD FUN. FUNNER THEN USUAL ATLEAST.

THE SHOW WAS AT SOME ART SPACE WITH MAD PRINTS AND PAINTINGS ON THE WALLS. FOUND THIS LITTLE GEM OF A PIC BUT UNFORTUNATELY ONLY JEMZ, TK AND A HANDFUL OF RANDOMS WILL KNOW WHY GARY AND A PICTURE OF PEACE FROM FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP IS HILARIOUS.

THE SHOW PRETTY MUCH CAME TOGETHER IN PASE'S HOTEL ROOM RIGHT BEFORE THE WE LEFT FOR THE VENUE. BASICALLY EVERYTHING I TOLD HIM NOT TO DO HE DID ANYWAY AND IT WORKED. I TOLD HIM NOT TO DO THE ELECTRIC SLIDE HE DID IT ANYWAY. I TOLD HIM HE SHOULD PROBABLY CHILL ON THE SLOW SONG. HE DID IT ANYWAY AND IT WORKED. PASE'S IS A CLASSY DUDE. REAL SHOWMEN. HIRE HIM, SO HE CAN BRING ME WITH HIM.

BY THE WAY, ALL THE WHILE I WAS ON A HUNGER STRIKE. MY PLAN WAS TO STARVE MYSELF UNTIL THE "HERE I AM" VIDEO GOT 5000 HITS. AT THIS POINT I WAS 2 DAYS IN. COUPLE DRINKS AND I WAS FUCKED. AFTER THE SHOW MYSELF, VIN, MORSE AND EQUAL WHO WERE ALL IN TOWN ENDED UP AT SOME NEW WAVE AFTER PARTY. BETWEEN THE DRINKS, NO FOOD AND SOME SHIT I HAD TAKEN I HAD LOST MY MIND. THERE'S SOME TWITPIC FLOATING AROUND OF ME SCREAMING AT A WALL. GOOD TIMES!

THE NEXT DAY I WOKE UP AND IMMEDIATELY GRABBED SOMETHING TO EAT. I DIDN'T REALLY SEE MUCH POINT IN GOING ON A HUNGER STRIKE IF I WASN'T GONNA TELL ANYBODY ABOUT IT. WHATS THAT'S SAYING? IF A TREE FALLS IN THE WOODS OR SOMETHING. ANYWAY, ON MY WAY BACK FROM EATING SOME GUY WAS SELLING RECORDS IN THE STREET. THE LAST DAYS IN LA WERE A DAZE. THE FIRST THING I REMEMBER DOING ON SUNDAY IS GOING TO THE DO OVER. GOOD SHIT. ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO DJ SUCH A GREAT PARTY. THEY RECORD AND LINK ALL THE SETS FROM THEIR BLOG BUT FOR SOME REASON THE RECORDER WASNT WORKING THAT DAY.

AFTER WE WENT TO SEE MIKE B ONE LAST TIME BEFORE HIS TRIP TO CANADA (I THINK.) DIDN'T REALLY GET TO KICK IT WITH HOMIE ALL THAT MUCH SO CHECKING HIM ONE LAST TIME AT BANANA SPLIT WAS A NO BRAINER.

ACTUALLY MORE PEOPLE CAME IN.PROBABLY CUS THEY THOUGHT WE WERE SOME WEIRD ART INSTALLATION PIECE OR SOMETHING. NANCE EVEN GOT ON STAGE. I DONT THINK ANYONE REALLY KNEW WHAT TO THINK OF US. HA!

MILES GOT SOME FOOTAGE. I HAD IT IN MY HEAD TO WEAR A DISGUISE WHEN I PERFORMED SO IF THE SHOW WAS BAD I COULD CHANGE INTO MY TSHIRT AND JEANS AND BE AMONGST THE PEOPLE UNNOTICED. DONT THINK THERE WAS ANY NEED. WORTH WATCHING TO SEE JEMZ'S HAIR ALONE.

HARDYVISION BEHIND THE SCENES: DA HARDY BOYZ: HERE I AM VIDEO

I thought I'd take a second to let you in on some of the behind the scenes action for Da Hardy Boyz: Here I Am Video, which we officially released today.

Sometime around WMC my friend ABBY KOOCHER

GOTH ABBY

and I were hanging out and she suggested we make a video during her break from working on SILENT LIBRARY for MTV. People are always offering to make videos, but being that its a lot of fucking work it usually doesn't pan out. Abby on the other hand is a soldier so it did!

She told me to come up with a basic idea so I started digging. One of my favorite video's of all time has always been New Order's Confusion.

When I played it for her she was like "um ok you want a video with you rapping at a party scene," which was pretty funny to me. The reason I love this video is because of how ill it makes NY look, The Funhouse, 42nd st, those train stations, etc. Obviously that gritty energetic city is gone, but its still the best city in the world and I felt it was time for a video to pay homage to it again. The funniest response I got to this idea was when I told Eli, his answer "yeah good luck with that one buddy."

After we had finished shooting we ran into Alex from Holy Ghost! at some loft party. We were talking about our upcoming videos and one of us was like "you've seen the Confusion video right?" Alex's jaw dropped and thought we were taking a piss because their upcoming video was a shot for shot remake of the New Order clip! I think theirs came out really great too (however remember their DFA budget was quite a bit larger than our MS budget in all fairness).

For our music film we didn't want to jack the whole New Order steez as much as get inspiration from it. You'll see that some parts, like the pizza scene are obviously taken directly from the original. Other sections like the part when we go to EVR and Eli, Spank and XXXchange are chilling is supposed to be the modern equivalent of Arthur Baker going to break the record at the club (shout to Eli Bean Benitez). Also I would say at least 50% of our video was just freestyled on the spot by Abby, which worked out well in our opinion.

Another funny memory I have is when PH came to hide out in the party scene and said something like "I don't know this isn't really a party song." Why does everybody assume that Da Hardy Boyz only want to party? Oh yeah right, that's why.

Anyway that's what it was. Thank you to everyone who came thru for us, especially ABBY, Michna, Skye, Spindles, Terry, Frog, 7 Spring St and Spanish Berlin.

LOS ANGELES pt 1

Los Angeles! This is the second year in a row we've been lucky enough to Dj the Standard rooftop downtown on the 4th. Last year we did our own thing. This year Swimming with Sharks scooped us up along with Dj Hoff, Posso the Dj and the Booty Trap girls. After a heavy night of partying in Sf we hopped on a plane, met up with Lorraine at the airport, got a rental car and drove straight to the Standard. No stops! After not Djing for 2 weeks straight me and sTERRYo were more then ready to go in. Easily the best party ever. My dream is to one day dj on a beach. This will do for now. If youre in LA do yourself a favor and check this party out. You wont be disappointed.

After that we went to LA Cita around the corner. It was supposed to be packed with people.

It wasnt so Hoff and sTERRYo decided to strip.

That was short lived unfortunately.

Then it all went dark again.

We then ended up at Anne Lee's house. Swimming and drinking Vitamin Water. Blah blah blah.
